USEFULNESS
We were approached by HM Courts Services West Midlands to devise a programme that would address issues facing an organisation that has to balance water-tight confidentiality with public interest, and which constantly faces enquiries that, if not from the media themselves, would be of considerable interest to the press. Such enquiries often come from unexpected sources, are unpredictable and are addressed to all levels of staff.
We devised the three-day course to focus on the particular sensitivities of that specific business, whilst also covering a range of topics applicable to all industries. These included: the media’s objectives and their strategies for achieving them; press releases, statements and conferences; public speaking and interview techniques; maintaining reputation in times of crisis; how to react when a microphone or camera is thrust at you; where you really stand in terms of misrepresentation, misreporting, defamation, slander and libel.
This is the feedback that we received from delegates on the course.
